Carbon is of great importance to life because it comprises all organic matter in the world and organic matter relates to real life. They are found in carbohydrates, fats, proteins, nucleic acids, pretty much anywhere, and when decomposed they provide energy for both autotrophs who make their own energy and heterotrophs who consume it from others.
