Specific heat of water is 4.186 J/g/C. The heat required to raise the temperature by

[tex] \Delta T [/tex] is [tex] Q=ms \Delta T [/tex]

Here [tex] m [/tex] is mass of water being heated, [tex] s=4.186 J/g/C. [/tex] specific heat of water and [tex] \Delta T [/tex] change in temperature.

Here [tex] m=2.5kg=2500g,\Delta T=55-18.5=36.5 [/tex].

Heat energy required is

[tex] Q=(2500)(4.186)(36.5)\\
Q=381972.5 J\\
Q=381.97 kJ [/tex]
