7p + 5q = 19p + 12

To solve for p, isolate p (get p be itself).

First, subtract 19p from both sides.

7p + 5q - 19p = 19p + 12 - 19p

-12p + 5q = 12

Subtract 5q from both sides.

-12p + 5q - 5q = 12 - 5q

-12p = 12 - 5q

Divide both sides by -12.

-12p/-12 = 12 - 5q/-12

p = -1 + 5/12q

Answer:

p = -1 + [tex] \frac{5}{12} [/tex]q
