First of all, distribute the product of the two parentheses:

[tex] 8(7x-1)+4(x+5) = 8\cdot7x - 8\cdot 1 + 4\cdot x + 4 \cdot 5 = 56x-8+4x+20 [/tex]

Sum like terms:

[tex] 60x +12 [/tex]
