A question to ask may be if the introduction makes sense

The question should be revolving around if when they read the introduction did it immerse themselves in the paper and if they desired to read more.

if so a nice response would be:

"Your introduction caught my attention in forthwith(immediately) time."

If not, ask them for pointers to hook you into the paper.
