[tex](6^{-1})(4^{-2})[/tex]

1. Use the next rule of oxponents to rewrite the expression:

[tex]a^{-n}=\frac{1}{a^n}[/tex][tex]=(\frac{1}{6^1})(\frac{1}{4^2})[/tex]

2. Solve each exponent:

[tex]=(\frac{1}{6})(\frac{1}{16})[/tex]

3. Multiply the fractions:

[tex]\begin{gathered} =\frac{1*1}{6*16} \\ \\ =\frac{1}{96} \end{gathered}[/tex]

Then the given product is equal to 1/96 (or 96^-1)
