Metastasis is the term used to describe the cancer cell's ability to spread to other sites in the body. It is the spread of cancer cells from the place where they first formed to other parts of the body. Cancer cells breaks away from the original tumor, travel through the blood or lymph system, and form a new tumor in other organs or tissues of the body.
